Wounding charge after police officer attacked in Desborough

A police officer was attacked as they dealt with an incident in Desborough on Friday (November 20).

There was a large police presence in Neuville Way after the incident, which started at about 5.20pm, with officers remaining at the scene until the following day.

While dealing with the incident, an officer was assaulted and he had to be taken to Kettering General Hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman was unable to provide further details on the nature or severity of his injuries.

Marshall John Coe, 40, of Neuville Way, has since been charged with wounding with intent and possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence in connection with the incident.

Magistrates remanded Coe in custody to appear before Northampton Crown Court on Wednesday, December 16.
