Victory for Victor as Labour candidate wins election in Wellingborough Town Council's Croyland ward

Victor James (Labour) has been elected as a councillor for Wellingborough’s Croyland ward, and is ‘determined’ to have a positive impact on the area.

497 votes were cast, representing an 11 per cent turnout, whereby Victor took a 48 per cent share. Raz Koriya came in second place with 176 votes, a 35 per cent share.

Rounding out the candidates were Paul Mannion (Green) who took six per cent of the vote, Allan James Shipham (Independent) who also took six per cent, and Ashley James Russell Oro (Liberal Democrats), who finished with four per cent.

There were no spoiled papers.

In a tweet following the election, Victor said: “Croyland has spoken - they want change.

"As the new Labour councillor, I'm ready to deliver on my promises improve the area. Voters are tired of the Conservatives, I'm determined to fight for the changes Croyland deserves.

"With your support, we can build a better future for this community.”

Turnout was just ten per cent.
